On October 11 of this year, Bp. Timothy Senior, the chairman of the subcommittee for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, responded to the Lepanto Institute’s mailing that went to every bishop heading a diocese in the United States. The Lepanto Institute sent copies of four reports on CCHD grantees to the bishops, requesting a full 3rd party investigation of CCHD grantees and for bishops to withdraw from the CCHD collection altogether. Bp. Senior’s letter claimed:
“All of the initiatives that are supported with CCHD funding have undergone a thorough application process, which includes the approval by the local bishop, and the national subcommittee of bishops, and are closely monitored throughout the length of their grant to ensure that the terms of the grant agreement are strictly followed. Catholics can be confident that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development does not fund organizations that violate the moral or social teaching of the Church.”
Last week, the Lepanto Institute published a report proving that the CCHD recently provided a $45,000 grant to CUSH, which collected pornographic books with the intention of providing them to kids as young as middle school age. This new report centers on an organization receiving a first-ever grant from the CCHD.
According to the CCHD’s 2021-2022 grants list, the CCHD provided a $35,000 grant to an organization in the Diocese of Syracuse called We Are Unchained Inc.
The Lepanto Institute has confirmed that Unchained received a second CCHD grant of an unknown amount for 2022-2023. What this means is that everything contained in this report falls within the period of the CCHD’s grants to Unchained, proving that the “thorough application process” and “close monitoring” do not work. In fact, it could be said that the CCHD’s application and monitoring processes are more of an indictment of CCHD’s complicity in the evil ideologies and actions of these organizations than a defense of the CCHD itself.
Unchained was co-founded by husband-and-wife team Emily NaPier and Derek Singletary.
Had the CCHD actually done its due diligence, it would have been clear very quickly that Emily NaPier Singletary (Derek is incarcerated, serving a 10-year sentence) is affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, is pro-abortion, and promotes homosexual and transgender ideologies.
On August 11, 2016, Singletary retweeted a message supporting the queer and transgender community.
On August 13, 2016, Singletary retweeted a “happy birthday” message for brutal Communist dictator Fidel Castro, who was quoted for his statement that he finds “capitalism repugnant.”
On August 21, 2016, Singletary retweeted a tribute to George Jackson, which quoted him calling for the destruction of Capitalism, calling Capitalism and its supporters “The Enemy,” and repeating the Marxist axiom that life is “permanent revolution.”
On December 12, 2016, Singletary retweeted support for the “Right To Know Act” because it “closes important loophole in protecting LGBTQI Community.”
The video of the speech retweeted by Singletary says:
“These commonsense provisions empower lesbian, bisexual, and trans women to hold officers who engage in lesbphobic and transphobic behavior, or sexual harassment and assault, accountable. They also empower trans and gender nonconforming women to refuse gender searches. These gender searches are aimed at assigning gender based on anatomy, which are prohibited by law unless conducted by consent.”
On August 17, 2017, Singletary celebrated the effort of a “queer black woman” who initiated the take-down of a Confederate civil war memorial. Singletary said, “Queer black women still doing everybody else’s work.”
On May 6, 2022, Singletary tweeted a text exchange she had with Tom Suizzi’s campaign wherein she identifies as a “queer woman” and is upset that Suozzi suggested that Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law was reasonable.
On May 6, 2022, Singletary retweeted a memorial of her friend, transgender activist Nikeeta Slade, that was originally tweeted by Unchained itself. Note in the memorial images, they show pictures of Slade pushing socialism, in front of a statue of Karl Marx, queer activism.
On June 24, 2022, Singletary retweeted a message calling for the defunding of the police and the funding of abortion.”
It cannot be emphasized enough that all of this preceding evidence came well before and during the period of Unchained’s two grants from 2021-2023. If the CCHD “closely monitored” its grants to Unchained, then one would imagine this would have included examining the social media thread of its founder. And if that’s the case, then CCHD’s monitoring process is an indictment of CCHD, not a defense of it.
And what we discovered from Unchained is a close relationship with the Democratic Socialists of America and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the promotion of known socialists, a relationship with pro-abortion organizations and individuals, and the promotion of homosexual and transgender ideologies.
Unchained promoting pro-abortion organizations and individuals
On August 5, 2022, right at the beginning of Unchained’s second CCHD grant, Unchained posted a celebratory image of Sequoia Kemp, the co-founder of Sankofa Reproductive Health and Healing Center and an original member of Unchained.
It’s important to point out here that Kemp is Emily Singletary’s niece!
The reason this relationship is important is because of Kemp’s pro-abortion activism as the head of the Sankofa Reproductive Health and Healing Center and Sankofa’s relationship with Unchained. There are many, MANY posts on Kemp’s and Sankofa’s facebook pages promoting abortion, but this one suffices. On February 6 of this year, Kemp posted an announcement for her organization indicating that she is an “abortion doula,” that her organization is partnered with Planned Parenthood, and that “Abortion access is essential healthcare!”
The relationship between Unchained’s co-foundress and the pro-abortion Sankofa Reproductive Health and healing Center is important to highlight because it explains why Unchained is supporting Sankofa, as is seen in this facebook post from July of 2022.
In July of 2022, Unchained was identified as a sponsor of Sankofa’s “Community Give Back” program, which was essentially an opportunity to advertise the pro-abortion organization to the community. Even if the event itself did not involve abortion or birth control, it would be like participating in a Planned Parenthood diaper drive.
Unchained joined Planned Parenthood in supporting Sankofa’s give back program this past July as well.
To summarize, Emily Singletary, the co-founder of Unchained, has made it clear, at least in June of 2022, that she is pro-abortion. Her niece, SeQuoia Kemp, is the pro-abortion foundress of Sankofa Reproductive Health. Unchained formally celebrated Sequioa and her organization in a public post in August of 2022, and publicly participated in Sankofa’s “give back” programs in 2022 and 2023. And, just for good measure, it should also be noted that in August 2019, SeQuoia Kemp became Unchained’s Project manager. The intimate relationship between these two organizations is undeniable and due to family ties, inseparable.
Unchained Promoting Socialism
One of the marks of a socialist front organization is the support, participation, and promotion it receives from official Socialist party groups. Another mark is the integration of Socialist party members in the front organization itself. Jasmine Collins was the “Community Organizer” for Unchained from April 2022 – June 2023.
While Jasmine was working for Unchained, and while Unchained was receiving a grant from the CCHD, Jasmine was also the Secretary for the Democratic Socialists of America chapter in Syracuse. One of Jasmine’s duties in this role was to “facilitate cooperation between Syracuse DSA & other local activist orgs.” As will be shortly seen, Unchained is clearly one of those orgs.
In June of 2020, Unchained willingly participated in an event put on by the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), which is a thoroughly Marxist, pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ organization.
Unchained advertised the event in a separate post on the same day, identifying them with the PSL.
In September of 2022, Unchained promoted an event sponsored by the PSL and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
On November 29, 2022, Unchained co-hosted an event with the DSA.
In July of 2022, DSA again co-hosted an event with Unchained.
It should also be noted that the DSA chapter of Syracuse has a history of promoting Unchained and its announcements and events going back to 2018, indicating a firm relationship between the two organizations. Here are just a few samples from 2018, 2020, and 2021 which is both before and during the period of the grant.
Mentioned earlier in this report was Emily Singletary’s message about missing her friend, Nikeeta Slade, who was a known Marxist and LGBT activist. On August 24, 2022, Unchained posted Slade’s image, identifying her as a “revolutionary” and a “queer woman of color,” in celebration of her as a leader in “Black Liberation.”
On the Unchained website is a memorial to Slade, with a dedication that reads, “We owe Nikeeta a Revolution” and a photo of Slade standing in front of a statue of Karl Marx.
In order to understand the relationship between the Unchained and the Democratic Socialists of America and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, it’s important to remember that Emily Singletary tweeted out a happy birthday message to Communist dictator Fidel Castro and posted other pro-socialist and anti-Capitalist messages as far back as 2016. Any competent investigator vetting Unchained should have looked into her background and considered the comparison of the things she said with the official actions of the organization she is leading. Her public statements mark an obvious affinity for Marxist ideologies, and the close connection Unchained has with Socialist organizations confirms the Marxist nature of the organization itself.
Unchained Promoting LGBT Ideologies
All of the preceding information – the leadership of Unchained, Unchained’s connection to the pro-abortion organization Sankofa Reproductive Health, and Unchained’s direct involvement with Socialist organizations all represent major red flags to the organization itself both before and during the time of the CCHD’s grants to this organization. And this is why it is not shocking to see that this new grantee of the CCHD is loudly pushing homosexual and transgender ideologies.
On June 1, 2023, Unchained posted a message that “Prison Abolition is Queer Liberation,” arguing that “prison abolition and queer liberation are inseparable.”
On June 9, 2023, Unchained posted a message that “Pride is Anti-Police,” with a reminder that the first “Pride … was a riot against police criminalization of queerness.”
On June 13, 2023, Unchained published a string of messages arguing that laws and cultural standards set against homosexuality and transgenderism are the reason there is a “higher risk” of such individuals being arrested or incarcerated. The central theme of the messages is that “it should not be a crime to be queer.”
On June 30, 2023, Unchained published a message that “As long as queerness is criminalized, Pride is necessary.” The rational behind the message is:
“The answer lies in the current anti-trans sentiments growing among the American right-wing and entering the mainstream conversation. As long as doctors, parents, teachers, and transgender adults themselves are under threat of being arrested, charged with sex offenses, and jailed for talking about, giving, or receiving gender-affirming care, we have not won.”
Conclusion
We Are Unchained was founded by an individual whose ideologies are directly opposed to both Catholic moral and social teaching. She is a self-professed “queer” woman, she is pro-abortion, she promotes transgender and homosexual ideologies, and she celebrates brutal communist dictators and Marxist activists. Her niece is the foundress of a pro-abortion organization that Unchained has supported and promoted.
Unchained itself is directly tied to Socialist organizations the Democratic Socialists of America and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. Unchained’s Community organizer simultaneously worked for Unchained while acting as Secretary for the Democratic Socialists of America, and this while Unchained was receiving a grant from the CCHD. One of the DSA duties Unchained’s Community Organizer had was to “facilitate cooperation between Syracuse DSA & other local activist orgs.” Subsequently, Unchained and DSA publicly partnered on several projects. Concomitant with this, Unchained celebrated Nikeeta Slade by publishing images of her in front of a Karl Marx statue, declaring they “owe her a revolution.”
Finally, Unchained has forged for itself a commitment to fight for homosexual and transgender “rights.”
There is no denying that Unchained is an organization that should NEVER have received Catholic funds, and any competent investigator could have found what we discovered. Once again, this proves that the CCHD’s application, vetting, and ongoing monitoring process is completely broken.
We are calling upon all Catholic bishops of the United States to demand a FULL independent, third-party investigation of CCHD grantees and to halt all participation in the CCHD.

It is with deep regret my conscience compels me to exercise this spiritual work of mercy in admonishing my superior instate. Would that I could celebrate your spirit if only it were serving God. I can see that you conduct yourself diligently along the business of being “church” in many things however with little faith. I hate to say it, but your tepid faith endangers countless souls.
Our Lady of Fatima gave us the perfect antidote for the perfidy she knew would follow her request for the release of the 3rd secret of Fatima in 1960. Pope John XXIII signaled his betrayal when he announced that no longer would the Church seek to be “triumphant”. The then ascendant “mystery of iniquity” wasn’t going to stand around idly by and let anything like the 2nd coming of Christ interfere in its globalist agenda. So what did they do? They announced a “pastoral” council (which was ANYTHING BUT PASTORAL) against the advice of our Blessed Mother of Fatima. With the invention of the NEW MASS, there was a MASS EXODUS (pun intended) of Catholics, priests and nuns begging to be released from this charade. Did our pastoral “pastors” run after this drove of sheep? They did not! They did Satan proud by treacherously pretending that holding to the Mass of ages was not only impermissible but schismatic!

Dazed and addled, Our Lord’s poor sheep couldn’t recognize Him any longer in these “harsh and brutal” pastors so they wandered away for new pasture in heretical byways e.g., as Lutherans or Mormons etc. Imagine their surprise to discover later on they were no longer “persona non grata” if they would but return on ecumenical footpaths as Baptists or Jehovah Witnesses etc. Even zealous emissaries of Moloch are welcome at Holy Communion as long as they masquerade publicly as “Catholic” (sic) dignitaries (so much the better to scandalize and confuse Catholic voters!)
I would like to think, your Excellency, you would distinguish yourself from this brood of vipers. The state of your office thrusts upon you a solemn obligation to defend your sheepfold. Regrettably I can only discern a penchant for running with the wolves, gingerly avoiding any activity that might give rise to scandal among your Communist colleagues.

Sin is a personal act. Moreover, we have a responsibility for the sins committed by others when we cooperate in them:

by ordering, advising, praising, or approving them;
by not disclosing or not hindering them when we have an obligation to do so;
by protecting evil-doers.
You have an obligation to hinder Catholics from voting for abortion candidates by disclosing to them that the ends never justify the means.
Our Lady of Fatima declares: “War is a punishment for sin”. Do you disclose this to Catholic voters to deter them from mortal sin? Do they understand that a vote for sin is a vote for war? Aztecs sacrificed human lives for rain, so Catholics should likewise sacrifice innocent lives to chase preposterous pipedreams of peace and Communist nirvanas? You are the sentinel at the gate, but your own lack of faith binds your tongue!

Rome knows the moment our Holy Father and bishops consecrate Russia in an act of obedience to God, their jig is up! Russia gets converted to the one true Faith, peace fills the earth as the world rejects sin and turns to the Truth that sets us free, swords get hammered into pruning hooks and the Kingdom of God comes on Earth, just as it is in Heaven! We don’t see you backpedalling against the tide of modernism, restoring former bulwarks against heresy, or warning about the fires of Hell Our Lady of Fatima took such pains to emphasize in Her unveiling demonstration to the sainted children. Where are your efforts to call back the lost sheep to pastures of their fond recollection? Where are the confessional lines? Why is the miserly accommodation for Extraordinary Masses predicated on economy of resources rather than urgency to save souls?
Why do you not exhort your flock to take cover under the promise of salvation in the Five First Saturdays? Why are the Prayers of the Faithful laced with glittering generalities for peace but clueless on the unconditional formula mandated from Heaven? Will you beat around the bush and contumaciously sidestep the obvious obstacle to peace, namely the intransigence of the prelacy with respect to Heaven’s command? You could instruct the faithful to pray that God grant the grace necessary to move the hearts of the Pope and bishops to graciously execute Heaven’s ultimatum. If you won’t demonstrate what we must do to have this curse of war lifted, and it progresses to the annihilation of nations, this frightful scourge will rest over your head!

I seriously doubt the USCCB can muster even collectively the faith to put God to His Word, much less bishops individually. St. Paul says from such turn away. Why should I set aside a portion of my wages to throw good money after bad? Indeed, why should I not warn also my brothers to heed the words of St. Paul? Should I not direct my support instead to those initiatives that exercise faith in God’s Word? Will you persist in believing a time will arrive when the Kingdom doesn’t come to understand the emperor really isn’t wearing any clothes after all?
How can you possibly imagine you are going to make an end run that will “put one over” on Our Creator, and kick against the goad of the prophecy of Fatima: “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.”
If you might suppose there are any truths emanating from Rome or any council that pre-empts the following solemn declaration of the Church, then, obviously, there are no valid pronouncements at all:
“The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also JEWS and HERETICS and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”
Who else might these wolves be but those who scatter the sheep into false doctrines? I beg God the grace to pray every day your faith not fail you and all those who place their confidence in you as the watchman at the gate.

The people in these organizations are nuts. CCHD obviously does a very poor or nonexistent job of monitoring those receiving funds. Maybe their acronym CCHD should actually be “Catholic Campaign for Human Depravity.” Satan is hard at work at this supposed Catholic group.
Haven’t given to CCHD, Catholic Charities, nor Peter’s Pence in nearly a decade. They all go towards funding, or at least, partly funding this kind of stuff.
