Winrock promotes and distributes condoms, primarily in Nigeria.
In 2007, Winrock received a grant for $100,000 from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) for the promotion and distribution of condoms in Nigeria.
In 2008, Winrock’s initial grant of $100,000 jumped to $3,680,000 for condom instruction and distribution.
One of the descriptions for this project indicates that Winrock would be responsible for setting up condom distributing outlets throughout the project area, including to brothels. It says:
“The AIM project will receive condoms from USAID. These condoms will be distributed through 45 condom outlets and, by focal persons and peer educators in brothels and other appropriate service outlets. Peer educators will work with brothel owners to facilitate condom demonstrations to CSWs and their clients.”
In 2009, Winrock received an additional $3,345,000 for condom promotion and distribution in Nigeria.
Winrock reported that during its 2006-2011 condom-promoting project in Nigeria, it opened nearly 600 condom outlets.
A photoshare site by K4Health indicates that Winrock utilized an image of a man conducting a condom demonstration on a phallus for a powerpoint presentation titled, “Winrock and HIV.”
Conclusion
Winrock has no compunction about the distribution and promotion of condoms, and has worked hard for the distributions of condoms in Nigeria.
Because of Winrock’s unwavering promoting of these grave moral evils, no Christian could ever, in good conscience, support, provide funds or a clean image for this organization.
