Three Days of Darkness

In the past few months I have found a few videos and articles, even television programs that present a “scientific” explanation of the Days of Darkness promised in Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition. I do not know if that is a concerted effort to distort the prophetic warnings, or if it is just a fad among the now conspicuous anti-Christian crowd. Some falsely invoke studies by NASA or other reputable sources such as universities or well known scientists. A laughable prediction was made for this coming August 24, 2020 when, according to the anonymous presenter, our planet Earth is going to “go through the Dark Rift area of our local galaxy  (Via Lactea or Milky Way.)

The idea they want to transmit is that the Three Days of Darkness (sometimes abbreviated TDD) will be a perfectly explainable natural phenomena when it happens. What no one is able to explain is why that phenomena has been typified and predicted by some events and prophecies harking back to the days of Moses, who lived more than 3200 years ago, at a time when there were no telescopes, advanced physics, and people did not know about the existence of things like electrons or cells.

The Sixth Seal

When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and there came a great earthquake; the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree drops its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. The sky vanished like a scroll rolling itself up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth and the magnates and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains,  calling to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?’ ( Revelation 6: 12-17, written by Saint John the Evangelist in about 96 AD, 1862 years before NASA)

NASA’s astronomical events calendar for August 2020 does not mention such an important event at all. That alone unmasks the fact that such ‘scientific’ prediction is a hoax. NASA’s astronomical events calendar fails to mention anything referring to passing through the Dark Rift which is more than 300 light years from Earth and moves through space in conjunction with the rest of our galaxy. If things continue to occur like they have in the last 3.5 billion years, Earth is never going to go through our galaxy’s Dark Rift, since that would imply that we leave our present location and travel three centuries at the speed of light in that direction, which would be as spectacular as unexpected. Then we would have to cross that vast cloud of interstellar dust … that would take us a little bit more than four days … more like a few thousand years depending on various factors.

The Three Days of Darkness in Scripture and Tradition

“The times are grievous. The whole world is in turmoil because it has become worse than at the time of the deluge! Everything is in suspense, like a thread; when this thread breaks, the justice of God will fall like a thunderbolt and will complete its terrible course of purification.” (Prophetic Vision of Sr. Elena Aiello, Founder of The Sister Minims, Dec 8, 1958)

“[During the Three Days of Darkness] three-quarters of the population of the globe will disappear.” (Marie-Julie Jahenny on December 8th 1882)

Marie-Julie Jahenny, is one of the greatest prophets in the history of the Catholic Church. She revealed many amazing prophecies including the usurpation of the papacy by the agents of Antichrist. Jesus declared to the French prophetess: “I will soon arise in all the resplendence of My Justice. I will overturn the earth. I will thunder-strike the guilty soul …  My little souls, amidst that deluge of terror, you will carry My Cross, were it to be very small or big! … When frightening, terrifying screaming will come out of the earth, howling from souls in disgrace, who are not to return to My mercy you shall recite the following prayer:

‘I hail, adore and embrace you, adorable Cross of my Savior. Protect us, guard us, save us. Jesus loved you so much. After His example, I do love you. May your holy image appease my fears! Let me experience nothing but calm and confidence!’

You will experience so many graces, so much strength, that such a deluge will pass over you as though unperceived … My children, that strong blow will be a terrible confusion. Those will be days most awful, quite horrible. However, I would not like to frighten you. You will have your safeguard and a safe shelter.” (Quoted from The Cluzeau Documents; January 17, 1922)

Universal Darkness Prefigured by the Ninth Plague of Egypt

Three days of supernatural darkness occurred shortly before the liberation of Israel from Egyptian bondage. A very suggestive detail if one compares with the Apocalypse of Saint John: the opening of the Sixth Seal that causes the sun to become “black as sackcloth” also happens before the proclamation of Christ’s Kingdom. The Ninth Plague of Egypt occurs as follows:

“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Stretch out your hand towards heaven so that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness that can be felt.’ So Moses stretched out his hand towards heaven, and there was dense darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days. People could not see one another, and for three days they could not move from where they were; but all the Israelites had light where they lived.” (Exodus 10:21-23)

Every plague affected the realm of each of  ten deities of Egypt. The supernatural darkness meant the defeat of Rah the greatest god in the Egyptian pantheon, representing the Sun as giver of life. This seems to me a very important detail that seems to point at the fulfillment or anti-type in our days.

For the last five centuries or so, the leaders of the Western World have been following the doctrines of Illuminism. They claim to carry the “light of reason” while they falsely accuse the Christian order that preceded them as “obscurantist, promoting darkness and religious superstition.” Just like in ancient Egypt, the Three Days of Darkness of our time will humiliate a false ideology pretending to be the light of mankind while being exactly the opposite.

The Three Days of Darkness will be days of divine chastisement different only in degree from the deadly darkness that covered ancient Egypt. Darkness will be total while the enemies of God are thoroughly exterminated. What will happen to the people of God in the meanwhile? No one knows exactly but Our Lord has promised protection when he said to Marie Julie Jahenny: “You will have your safeguard and a safe shelter.”  We find the same promise in the Old Testament:

“Behold, the day of the Lord shall come, a cruel day, and full of indignation, and of wrath, and fury, to lay the land desolate, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven, and their brightness shall not display their light: the sun shall be darkened in his rising, and the moon shall not shine with her light. And I will visit the evils of the world, and against the wicked for their iniquity: and I will make the pride of infidels to cease, and will bring down the arrogance of the mighty.” (Isaiah 13: 9-11)

“Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourselves a little while until the wrath has passed. For behold, the LORD is coming out of His dwelling to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth will reveal her bloodshed and will no longer conceal her slain.” (Isaiah 26: 20-21)

We have nothing to fear. It is quite likely that those whom God wants to preserve through this horrible ordeal will receive instructions to remain at home or some other place of refuge while God wipes all wickedness away. Just like in the days of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, we will not be allowed to see the punishment of the damned. In Genesis 19 we read about Lot’s wife being transformed into a pillar of salt. When Lot and his wife were saved from the destruction of Sodom, she looked behind her towards the condemned city. Some Jewish traditions affirm that as soon as she saw the Divine Presence, she was transformed into a pillar of salt. During the Three Days of Darkness, obedience to God’s instructions will save the faithful while disobedience will mean immediate death. We are not to see God Himself in action while he punishes rebellious mankind.

There Is Hope in Our Blessed Mother

Ever since the 19th century apparitions of Our Blessed Mother, she has been warning the faithful of a terrible chastisement that God will bring upon the world if mankind does not repent. She has been preparing the faithful for this moment in history. Not everything in her messages have to do with suffering and punishment. There is also a wonderful message of hope. We now know that after the storm, a wonderful era of peace will heal mankind from these times of spiritual darkness, apostasy, and death.  A great restoration awaits those who survive the Days of Darkness.

“Then a beautiful splendor came over the earth, to announce the reconciliation of God with mankind … The small flock of faithful Catholics who had taken refuge under the trees will be brought before Saint Peter, who will choose a new pope. All the Church will be reordered according to the true dictates of the holy Gospel. The religious orders will be reestablished and the homes of Christians will become homes imbued with religion … ” (Venerable Elizabeth Canori-Mora)

“Those who shall survive shall have to conduct themselves well. There shall be innumerable conversions of heretics, who will return to the bosom of the Church; all will note the edifying conduct of their lives, as well as that of all other Catholics. Russia, England, and China will come to the Church.” (Blessed Anna-Maria Taigi)

Confusion reigns in our days. The promised diabolical disorientation of the world and the Church is obviously here and will get worse before things get better. However, in the midst of these confusing times we have a guiding star. We can trust Our Lady to preserve us and nurture us in our journey.  She has instructed us to pray the Holy Rosary and patiently wait for God’s intervention on the affairs of this wayward world. She has promised protection for all the households devoutly praying with her until the end.

She gave the most encouraging promise to the Three Little Shepherds of Fatima: “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph!” Let us do all we can to be there, rejoice with her, and see her triumph.

“But if thy eye be evil thy whole body shall be dark. If then the light that is in thee, be darkness: how great that darkness shall it be!” (Words of Jesus in Matthew 6:23)
