Ever since I can remember, political leftists everywhere have been outraged. Way back in the 19th century, Marx presented the Communist Manifesto which was the model for all the leftist outrage to come. We are now in the 21st century and the leftist outrage is wearing thin. Many of us are quite tired of it.
While the forces to the left of the political spectrum were creating all kinds of chaos and mayhem, the dreaded Capitalists (though no angels themselves) somehow managed to pull millions of people out of poverty. This is no longer a secret known only to brainy economists who know a lot about statistics. Only a few days ago, a Buenos Aires cab driver gave me this wonderful pearl of empirical observation when he said:
Show me one country where the Left rules unchallenged, not moderated by any other force, where all people are happy, prosperous, and free.
I had just finished posting The crystal ball country and I must admit I was in awe of such a demolishing power of synthesis. Many well educated individuals are completely oblivious to that simple fact: leftist ideas have proved to be of little practical usefulness for all the trouble and pain they generate. Sometimes it takes a simple, uneducated man to cut through all the intellectual nonsense.
Our present world can be compared to the ancient kingdoms of Canaan, and the political left to Balaam, the “seer” who was hired by the five Canaanite kings to curse the people of God. The name Balaam means: devourer. He was a professional, a respected expert in his field. You can read his whole story in Numbers 22-24.
As the Israelites entered the promised land, Jericho was the first city they conquered. According to some Jewish traditions, Balaam perished as the walls of Jericho fell upon him. Balaam did not “see” that the walls were going to fall. The best refuge for any prophet is to do God’s will. He perished along with his “clients” to whom he gave the worse possible advice: to resist the will of God by tempting the Israelites with sexual immorality.
Jesus himself reminds us of this false prophet in his counsel to the Church in Pergamum:
But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling-block before the people of Israel, so that they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. (Revelation 2:14)
That advice is only a reminder of the Old Testament teachings:
Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, for by all these practices the nations I am casting out before you have defiled themselves. Thus the land became defiled; and I punished it for its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. But you shall keep my statutes and my ordinances and commit none of these abominations, neither the citizen nor the alien who resides among you (for the inhabitants of the land, who were before you, committed all of these abominations, and the land became defiled); otherwise the land will vomit you out for defiling it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. For whoever commits any of these abominations shall be cut off from their people. So keep my charge not to commit any of these abominations that were done before you, and not to defile yourselves by them: I am the Lord your God. (Leviticus 18:24-30).
From the very beginning, the political left has proposed to defile the nations of the former Christendom with immoral practices contrary to God’s will. Their idea is to debilitate the Christian nations with all kinds of unnatural actions by relaxing sexual mores, promoting abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, etc. The proliferation of all these abominations has generated a huge number of social, economic, and legal problems designed to diminish the capacity of the state to govern effectively and defend the citizens.
It has happened to other countries: confused and overwhelmed, the people look to the false prophets of the Left as a possible solution to their problems only to fall into a grievous form of slavery. It happened to the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, China, Cuba, and now Venezuela. Once one of the most prosperous countries in the world, Venezuela attracted immigrants even from nations far away. In only two decades, the Left has reduced Venezuela to utmost poverty. The families of those in government, most of whom have become very rich, are now moving to their posh accommodations in Europe, and other parts of the world, leaving their own people to suffer in misery and squalor. Those false prophets who once promised to save the country and give the people a better life!
I heard that intelligent individuals learn from other people’s experience. Looking to the likes of Venezuela, the people of the United States are now awakening to the fact that a cadre of politicians in both parties, have conspired to control the American political system, seeking power for themselves and for foreign operators. Those actors seek to utilize the nation’s vast resources and strong military power to serve their own world agenda. It seems to me that God in his unfathomable mercy has allowed them to get to a point where their plans can be easily exposed. Even their efforts to corrupt and control the Catholic Church are now evident to anyone with eyes to see.
The political battles unfolding before our eyes may result in the lost of the country or in a glorious triumph. It is important to understand that the present troubles stem from the original temptation: sexual immorality. It is imperative that all Christians return to a life of purity and help others open their eyes to the origin of these problems. If the country returns to its Christian roots, it will be healed and protected.
Our Blessed Mother gave this prayer to the Immaculate Conception to Sister Mildred Mary Neuzil (1916-2000) along with a recommendation to pray the daily family Rosary. A lot of good advice can be gleaned from this devotion.
O Immaculate Mother, Queen of our country, open our hearts, our homes, and our land to the coming of Jesus, your Divine Son. With Him, reign over us, O heavenly Lady, so pure and so bright with the radiance of God’s light shining in and about you. Be our Leader against the powers of evil set upon wresting the world of souls, redeemed at such a great cost by the sufferings of your Son and of yourself, in union with Him, from that same Savior, Who loves us with infinite charity.
We gather about you, O chaste and holy Mother, Virgin Immaculate, Patroness of our beloved Land, determined to fight under your banner of holy purity against the wickedness that would make all the world an abyss of evil, without God and without your loving maternal care. We consecrate our hearts, our homes, our Land to your Most Pure Heart, O great Queen, that the kingdom of your Son, our Redeemer and our God, may be firmly established in us.
We ask no special sign of you, sweet Mother, for we believe in your great love for us, and we place in you our entire confidence. We promise to honor you by faith, love, and the purity of our lives according to your desire. Reign over us, then, O Virgin Immaculate, with your Son Jesus Christ. May His Divine Heart and your most chaste heart be ever enthroned and glorified among us. Use us, your children of America, as your instruments in bringing peace among men and nations. Work your miracles of grace in us, so that we may be a glory to the Blessed Trinity, Who created, redeemed, and sanctifies us.
May your valiant Spouse, St. Joseph, with the holy Angels and Saints, assist you and us in “renewing the face of the earth.” Then when our work is over, come, Holy Immaculate Mother, and as our Victorious Queen, lead us to the eternal kingdom, where your Son reigns forever as King. Amen.

May God grant us victory against the forces of darkness under Mary’s heavenly banner of purity. The false prophets will eventually fail but it is up to us to preserve ourselves and our families by not falling prey to their wicked web of deception.
I have heard, but only recently, that people are growing tired of the constant whinny of hoarse outrage, the raised fist, le protest, the empty headlines, the mockery, the “bombshell” revelation.
From mine workers in the eighteenth century to a micro-minority of individuals who feel alienated from their sexual potential, one may be forgiven for feeling emotionally exhausted – except by the left, of course, who forgive nothing and who drag the dark waters of history with rusty chains and hooks looking for forgotten bloated corpses for which to raise the plaint of injustice.
When I hear a leftist tip his Greek fisherman’s cap to the tens of millions of genuine victims robbed, tortured and murdered by the left in my lifetime, then I might open my ear to his entreaty on behalf of some abstract collective of oppression. Until then, I will tune out the silly noise and fist pumping posturing. Hypocrisy is a grave sin. It is a house built on quicksand.
