Drowned in Darkness

Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. (Revelation 12:15-16)

The first century was drawing to an end when Saint John the Apostle wrote those words. He describes in symbolic language the final, desperate efforts of the enemy of mankind to prevent the establishment of the Kingdom of Christ. I find a strong parallelism between that apocalyptic image and the present world situation.

Various crisis have assailed the President of the United States since 2016. First, there was a silent insurrection of a number of individuals in the intelligence services. Now it is rather obvious that an important part of those agencies conspired to depose the President even before he could swear in on January 20, 2017. That was followed by an impeachment so contrived and lacking in any legal merits that one is left wondering how could people so dumb make it to the upper echelons of government in the most powerful nation in the world.

When the cavalcade of innuendo and stupidity was over, a suspiciously timely pandemic hit the entire world. I won’t repeat the story because it has been told a thousand times but it seems to me that the timing of the appearance of COVID-19 qualifies to be considered a calculated hit on the US economy. If it was not for the quick reaction of the White House, the country’s security could have been compromised. The damage done to the world economy has been great. Politicians in charge of certain states used the opportunity to brazenly display their disdain for the U.S. Constitution. At the same time, they amply demonstrated their dangerous incompetence. If this was hit organized by the political left, it certainly looks like a self inflicted injury.

All of that was followed by what I call a parade of morons. I said morons in the sense used by Daniel J. Flynn in his book titled Intellectual Morons: How Ideology Makes Smart People Fall for Stupid Ideas. The grandsons of those brave men who landed in Normandy and Iwo Jima to save the world from dangerous barbarians, decided to soil that extraordinary accomplishment of their ancestors by showing the world how idiotic the average American youth has become. Basically, the morons went to destroy monuments, buildings, businesses, and other assets of their communities to “demonstrate” how great their ideology is. Most of them are incapable of pointing at their own state in the US map. They are the product of years of ideological training in U.S. schools. Do not tell me I exaggerate. Many years ago I asked a young lady graduate of a Dade Co. High School to do the following: given Dade County, the City of Miami, and the State of Florida please explain which is inside which, also naming the capital of the State of Florida and providing its location. Our candidate, born and raised in Florida failed. She was trying to get a job as a reservation agent for a well known airline. “Imagine there’s no countries …”

In the last post, I dared to admit that the Catholic Church was sufficiently infiltrated by 1960’s to call the II Vatican Council. That opportunity was used to further infiltrate the areas that remained untouched. An older priest I spoke with regarding the infiltration told me the following. Some minor details have been edited to preserve privacy:

“I was in the Seminary when the Council began. It was a war. I was young and I was able to walk among the ruins. The elderly priests wanted to die (sic). The enemy succeeded because he had been within the Church for a long time and the Council was one of his slaps. In 1903 they almost got a Mason pope, perhaps that was a response to an encyclical by Pope Leo XIII against Freemasonry [Father is talking about Humanum Genus, I believe]. We were saved thanks to the veto of Emperor Franz Joseph (I of Austria). The banned cardinal was Mariano Rampolla del Tindaro, Secretary of State of Leo XIII, the same one who later consecrated the cathedral of Buenos Aires. Years after that (when they remodeled the presbytery) Masonic symbols were uncovered. When he died, his Masonic insigniae were found among his belongings. The memoirs of Cardinal Merry del Val, secretary of state of Saint Pius X, recall the concern of the Pope for the war that would come and that would result in the religio depopulata, [predicted by St. Malachi] the destruction of religion. The First World War achieved a Masonic goal: to end the Catholic Austro-Hungarian Empire. How much more must have happened that we don’t know! Let us also remember the great pains caused by Luther and the French Revolution. Yet, we were not abandoned by the One we love and Who loved us first. He told his disciples “I send you like sheep among wolves; be wise as serpents and simple as doves” (Matthew 10:16). Not all the prophecies have been fulfilled yet! For example, the Great Tribulation announced by Our Lord, “as there was not before, nor will ever be again.” How patiently I had to listen to a Bishop announce “the new spring of the Church”. How many foolish optimists! I am optimistic in Christ: “Do not fear, I have overcome the world.” Now the world is fast approaching its end. The Lord will come. I would not want to be in the shoes of the ecumenists. How many souls have been lost because of them! And how many suffered martyrdom because of them.”

It was Msgr. Carlo Maria Viganò who wrote recently about how the II Vatican Council was to blame for the terrible corruption and decay in the Church. Somehow this old brain of mine was allowed to do the math (so to speak) and when I read an article in Camp of the Saints regarding the opening of the envelope containing the Third Secret in 1960 … the scales fell off my eyes. That was the subtle way Our Lady communicated to all of us that by 1960 an important part of the Vatican Curia was no longer on her side. The next thing that came to my mind –and I don’t claim divine inspiration but I have to admit I am not clever enough to figure this on my own– was an anecdote I heard long ago. Pope John XXIII — Giuseppe (Italian form of Joseph) Roncalli — invited into the Vatican a delegation of the Jewish religious leaders in Italy. The visitors were expecting the Pope to appear in full regalia but instead a robust priest in ‘clergyman’ attire came in. They did not recognize who he was until he said: “Non mi riconosci? Sono Giuseppe, tuo fratello!” borrowing the phrase from Genesis 45:1-4: “Don’t you recognize me? I am Joseph your brother!” That anecdote now gives me the creeps!

In that story, the shedding of the papal attire and the expression borrowed from Genesis are all clues of the ongoing infiltration. The Pope dressed as a parish priest prefigures the moves to demean the papal office by gradually eliminating its distinctive signs: no Sedia Gestatoria, no Papal Tiara, no Ring of the Fisherman, no Vicar of Christ title, no special car, etc. Then comes the figure of Joseph Vizier of Egypt (those in the secret sect love things Egyptian!) who has been elevated to the highest authority in the land and now reveals his secret identity to his brothers. Was this a Mason becoming Pope and now receiving his revolutionary brethren whose ancestors demanded the crucifixion of Christ?

Now the Catholic Church has been infiltrated and the light of its doctrine is being replaced by the human ideologies du jour. This will have serious consequences for the world where Christ has already been rejected. In Genesis we are told that the Spirit hovered over the deep original chaos. It is Logos (John 1) –reason in action– what brings the world into order and life. Absent Logos, there can’t be no order. The eclipse of the Church is throwing the entire world into darkness and chaos. Spiritual reality leads material reality. If the Church ceases in her militancy for Christ, the world descends into the primeval dark disordered state. The Church is the light of the world and not the other way around.

The barbarians revolting on the streets of U.S. and European cities are the most recent step of a long process of infiltration and neutralization of positive forces in Western Society. Leftist ideology has been driving academics, state administrations, and other societal forces for the longest time. The forces of evil will act in the same manner that they acted within the Church with the idea of utilizing the power and resources of Western nations for their own purposes by capturing those institutions where the real power resides.

We know that God will not allow those dark forces to prevail in the end but we must pray and offer sacrifices, asking for God to make these days of darkness short least the whole world would perish.
