The Institute of Human Virology (IHV) is distributing and promoting the use of condoms and other forms of contraception.
In a 2011 document produced by the Institute of Human Virology (IHV), titled, “Hope for Nigeria,” IHV stated its intention to expand access to condoms. It wrote:
IHV-Nigeria is expanding coverage for prevention among MARPs by supporting special HIV intervention programs such as peer education, early treatment for sexually-transmitted infections, partner notifications, and condom distribution with local non-governmental organizations.
In addition to helping in the distribution of condoms, IHV’s “Safe Sex Information Guide” says that “correct and consistent use of a condom is imperative.”
Several other pages on IHV’s website promote the use of condoms for various reasons.
- IHV’s “Cervical Cancer Information Guide” recommends that girls use condoms in order to avoid HPV.
- IHV’s “Herpes Simplex Information Guide” recommends the use of condoms in order to avoid contracting herpes.
- IHV’s “Hepatitis B Information Guide” says that using condoms consistently and properly may reduce the transmission of Hepatitis B.
In 2015, IHV-Nigeria published an article titled, “Pregnant Women Living with HIV Need Family Planning.”
In the article, Dr Rukeme Ake-Uzoigwe, IHV-Nigeria’s Program Officer for Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health, said:
“For a woman who wants to limit pregnancy (complete stoppage to pregnancy), we advise her to use the permanent methods or long active reversible methods, but preferentially, the long methods like Tubal Ligation. But when she wants to space (giving some time in-between pregnancies);Condoms, Pills, the famous Depo or the injectable every three month is recommendable.” Specifically, for women living with HIV, we encourage them to use long active contraceptives like IUCDs that can stay as long as 10 years and Condoms along with it to help prevent re-infection.”
Conclusion
The Institute of Human Virology is actively promoting the use of all manner of contraception, and engaging in the distribution of condoms.
Because of IHV’s unwavering promoting of these grave moral evils, no Christian could ever, in good conscience, support, provide funds or a clean image for this organization.
