Michael Hichborn, president of the Lepanto Institute, was on site in Lexington, KY, where the Association of US Catholic Priests (AUSCP) held its Annual Assembly. During the Assembly, Hichborn held a Rosary rally outside with local supporters to protest the AUSCP and pray for the conversion of its dissident priests.
As the Lepanto Institute has been reporting since 2017, the AUSCP is notorious for:
- Promoting women’s sacramental ordination
- Promoting homosexual activism
- Presenting heretical ideas concerning the Eucharist
- Promoting heretical ideas about the Priesthood
- Helping found and lead an international heretical cabal attempting to transform the Church
During the rally, priests from the AUSCP approached those attending the rally to ask about the signs. Most commonly, AUSCP attendees were offended by the use of the word “pervert” in relation to the promotion of LGBT ideologies. Most of those attendees who approached were unaware that the AUSCP had taken a formal and public position in support of forcing Catholic adoption agencies to provide children to homosexual and transgender couples. When provided with the facts about the AUSCP’s support for the homosexual adoption of children, the attendees were repulsed and openly rejected that position, while maintaining that they do support homosexual and transgender inclusion in the Church.
Other discussions centered on women’s ordination. Priests attending the AUSCP event admitted that they supported the idea that women should be ordained as deacons, and even went so far as to say that they supported the idea of women being ordained to the priesthood.
“We publicly rally against the AUSCP every year to raise public awareness of the grave danger to the Catholic faith posed by this organization,” said Hichborn. “Wherever the AUSCP holds this event, we will be there to counter it with public witness and prayer against its diabolical reforms.”
