During the weekend of November 17-18, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) will be taking up its annual, national collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). This collection reallocates funds from dioceses throughout the United States to community organizing groups around the country. Despite repeated denials and alleged reforms, the CCHD continues to fund organizations that are acting in direct contradiction with Catholic moral and social teaching and against the very guidelines of the CCHD itself.
Last month, the Lepanto Institute reported that the CCHD provided $240,000 to an organization that promotes Planned Parenthood, legalized prostitution, and homosexuality. Last week, Lepanto reported on $280,000 in Catholic funding that went to an organization run by pro-abortion and pro-homosexual activists.
In 2015, the Lepanto Institute wrote and published an article detailing the Marxist history and ideology of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
And problems continue to be found with the latest round of CCHD grants. On page 6 of the latest list of CCHD grantees is an organization called the Indianapolis Worker’s Justice Center (IWJC), which received its first-ever grant of $35,000. As with before, it is clear that the CCHD either did not actually vet the organization before giving it a grant, or it willfully turned a blind eye to the distinctly Marxist and pro-abortion character it publicly holds.
IWJC Hosts and Trains Socialist Activists
On September 23 of this year, IWJC hosted the Central Indiana Democratic Socialists of America for their chapter meeting.
This is not the first time IWJC had worked closely with the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists. According to the Central Indiana DSA facebook page, not only does the DSA chapter have a meeting coming up next week, but IWJC has hosted DSA at least 13 times in the last year alone. IWJC’s hosting of the DSA included chapter meetings, phone banks, training sessions, branch meetings, and more.
On October 22, DSA received formal training at IWCJ from one of IWJC’s community organizers, Lynette Taylor, who is also identified as a member of DSA.
IWJC Leadership and Pro-Abortion, Pro-Homosexual, Socialists
Lynette Taylor’s linkedin profile indicates that she has been a community organizer for IWJC since February of 2017.
Lynette Taylor is not only a socialist, but is robustly pro-abortion and pro-LGBT. In several places on her facebook page, she advocates for abortion, homosexuality, transgenderism, and Marxism. In the image on the left, we see Taylor participating in a DSA protest, raising her fist in the salute of socialism. On the right is Taylor participating in another DSA event.
Lynette is also a supporter of abortion. On the left, Taylor announces that she is attending the Friends for Choice: Fundraiser for Reproductive Justice, an event organized by the DSA chapter she is a member of, intended to raise money for an abortion fund. On the right is a picture Taylor participating in the event on stage, wearing a t-shirt that says, “I Support All Options: Hoosier Abortion Fund.”
To be clear, this is an image of the t-shirt Taylor is wearing, supporting abortion.
Lynette is very clear in her support for homosexuality and transgenderism. On October 22, Taylor publicly advocated for transgenderism (left). In June, she “celebrated” multiple forms of sexual deviancy, such as queers, demisexuals and pansexuals.
But the actions of the organizer for IWJC shouldn’t some as a surprise, considering her pro-socialist, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual advocacy is practiced by her boss, Nancy Holle, the president of IWJC. Nancy Holle’s linkedin page indicates that she is the president of IWJC, and has been since 2014.
IWJC is an affiliate of Interfaith Worker Justice, a known Marxist organization with deep ties to pro-abortion and pro-LGBT activism. More on that in a bit. But we mention this now because the following image shows Nancy Holly in a group photo with Kim Bobo (former executive director of Interfaith Worker Justice), giving the raised fist salute of socialism. As will be shown later, Bobo is very active with the Democratic Socialists of America.
On Facebook, Holle publicly stated her stand with Planned Parenthood (left) and even posted an image of Planned Parenthood president, Cecile Richards, who was decrying the alleged “war on women.” (right)
In addition to this, Holle also posted an absolutely vile video produced by the Center for Reproductive Rights, encouraging people to sign the “Bill of Reproductive Rights.” This “bill” specifically calls for the following:
The right to a full range of safe, affordable, and readily accessible reproductive health care—including pregnancy care, preventive services, contraception, abortion, and fertility treatment—and accurate information about all of the above.
IWJC Itself Conducted Pro-Homosexual activities
Holle also supports homosexuality on her facebook page as well. On the left is a post from this June, promoting an LGBT propaganda film titled, “Pride,” which was screened at IWJC (right).
IWJC’s Facebook Page Supports Socialist and Pro-Abortion Organizations
Given the energetic support the leadership of IWJC for abortion, homosexuality and Marxism, it should come as no surprise to see that IWJC’s own facebook page “likes” organizations that promote these very causes. When clicking “Pages Liked By This Page” on IWJC’s facebook page, we see the following:
IWJC Is an Affiliate of Marxist, Pro-Abortion, Pro-Homosexual Interfaith Worker Justice
As we stated earlier, IJWC is an affiliate of Interfaith Worker Justice.
The problem with Interfaith Worker Justice (IWJ) is that it was founded by a Marxist and is staffed by Marxists, pro-aborts, and pro-homosexuals. A detailed report on IWJ can be read here.
Conclusion
Socialism has been thoroughly condemned by nearly every pope since Pope Pius IX. Pope John XXIII even said that “no Catholic could subscribe even to moderate Socialism.” And yet, it is abundantly clear that IWJC is a socialist organization, engaging in socialist and pro-homosexual activities. It’s leadership is very clearly promoting abortion, homosexuality and Marxism as well.
There is no way IWJC should have ever received a grant from the CCHD, and yet, this is simply par for the course. No matter how many times the CCHD and its bishop-advocates promise not to fund such organizations, they continue to fund them time and again. No amount of reform is going to change the problem as the CCHD has shown itself to be either completely incapable of properly vetting organizations receiving Catholic funding, or it is itself supportive of groups like this. And if CCHD sees no moral issue with funding an organization such as IWJC, then the fundamental problem with it is plain for all to see.
It is time to END the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
Find your bishop’s contact information here, and call, email and write letters respectfully requesting your bishop to withdraw from the CCHD and call for its abolition. Send him links to this article and the other two we listed above.
After that, contact the CCHD and demand answers. Ask them how or why an organization like IWJC ever received a grant and if CCHD will demand Catholic money to be returned for violating CCHD guidelines and Catholic moral/social teaching.

For all the names cited above,
I found no visible claim to authorship or fairplay.

Well, I no longer give to Catholic Relief Services for this same reason, and this is NOT the first time the USCCB has deeply disturbed me, not to mention Bergolio. I will make sure to add the “Catholic” Campaign for Human Development to my “DO NOT DONATE” list, and I deeply thank the Lepanto Institute for its deeply important work. I just wish I could share this on FB so that others would be able to know about this, as well as which actions to take in response.
Martin Pfister says
I have already discerned that the use of monies raised by the USCCCB is far too often questionable.
When one of their envelopes appears with my parish packet, I throw it out and give their share
to my parish or some other reliable charity or religious order.

That’s an excellent idea!!!

That’s why we need tone praying for the bishop conference that is going on right now.
