Following a flurry of damage control by Virginia Governor Ralph Northam for comments suggesting the acceptability of infanticide, Northam finds himself in the center of an ever-increasing maelstrom of controversy.
This afternoon, pictures from Northam’s 1984 medical school yearbook were published by various news outlets … pictures depicting him and a friend dressed in blackface and a KKK costume. Northam confirmed that he is one of the men in the photo, apologizing for the image saying:
“Earlier today, a website published a photograph of me from my 1984 medical school yearbook in a costume that is clearly racist and offensive.
“I am deeply sorry for the decision I made to appear as I did in this photo and for the hurt that decision caused then and now.
“This behavior is not in keeping with who I am today and the values I have fought for throughout my career in the military, in medicine, and in public service. But I want to be clear, I understand how this decision shakes Virginians’ faith in that commitment.”
“I recognize that it will take time and serious effort to heal the damage this conduct has caused. I am ready to do that important work. The first step is to offer my sincerest apology and to state my absolute commitment to living up to the expectations Virginians set for me when they elected me to be their Governor.”
Despite Northam’s claim that this behavior is not in keeping with who he is today, video from a 2013 debate he had with black, pro-life Republican candidate E. W. Jackson shows him absolutely refusing to shake hands with Jackson.
At the end of the debate, Jackson extended his hand to Northam in an effort to show good will. Northam pretended not to see Jackson’s hand, and when Jackson tapped him with his hand still extended, Northam refused to shake it.
Trying to aid in the damage control, Virginia House Senate Minority Leader, Richard L. Saslaw told the Washington Post:
“His whole life has been about exactly the opposite and that’s what you need to examine, not something that occurred 30 years ago. While it’s in very poor taste, I would think no one in the General Assembly who would like their college conduct examined. I would hate to have to go back and examine my two years in the Army. Trust me. I was 18 years old and I was a handful, OK? His life since then has been anything but. It’s been a life of helping people, and many times for free.”
In a twist of both irony and hypocrisy, last October, Saslaw proclaimed Brett Kavanaugh’s unfitness to serve on the Supreme Court due to the heavy scrutiny regarding Kavanaugh’s high school year book and unsubstantiated accusations on his character.
Northam has been on the defensive since Wednesday after he weighed in on the barbaric abortion bill introduced by Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran. Commenting on the Bill, Northam said:
“So in this particular example if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
Northam’s comment sparked a wave of outrage from across the country, decrying the callous monstrosity of suggestion that a baby born alive may or may not be allowed to live, depending upon what a mother and doctor decided afterward.
In desperation, Northam held a press conference, saying, “I have devoted my life to caring for children and any insinuation otherwise is shameful and disgusting.” Northam’s claim to caring for children, however, is completely contradicted by the fact that his campaign received $3 million in assistance from Planned Parenthood.
There is now a bi-partisan call for Ralph Northam to resign his position.
The chairman of the Democrat Super PAC, Guy Cecil was quick to call for Northam’s resignation. Cecil said on Twitter:
“I believe in personal forgiveness & public repentance. That is not the same as deserving the confidence bestowed in our elected officials. The picture was horrifying and deserves a clear response. Ralph Northam should resign.”
Not surprisingly, the Virginia GOP also called for Northam’s resignation. Virginia GOP chariman Jack Wilson said:
“Racism has no place in Virginia. These pictures are wholly inappropriate. If Governor Northam appeared in blackface or dressed in a KKK robe, he should resign immediately.”
Even the openly Socialist Daily Kos called for Northam’s resignation. Daily Kos Founder and Publisher Markos Moulitsas said, “Northam’s racist med school antics have no place anywhere in America. No apology is enough. Northam must resign immediately.”
Calls for Northam’s resignation also came from the NAACP and MoveOn.org.
The Lepanto Institute is urging Catholics everywhere to pray the Rosary for the state of Virginia during this amazing turn of events. The Culture of Death has overreached and now it is on the ropes! Our Lady gave us the most powerful weapon against the devil and its agents! The Holy Rosary has won victory after victory, in Lepanto, in Vienna, in Malta, in Austria, in Poland, in Brazil … and now that the Culture of Death has revealed its true face to the world, the Holy Rosary will win here as well.
Please join us in praying for victory over death in Virginia!

I’m saddened that the only reason that Governor Northam is being pressured to resign is because of some stupid blackface picture as opposed to the fact that he supports infanticide.

He knows why he is having a hard time. He would not be under the lens of the public if it wasn’t for his ideas of murder.
